This is exciting! Dana Bourgeois has long been interested in developing and building a mandolin - being a mandolin player himself - and here's the first to hit the market! A splendid A style with a torrified Adirondack top and torrified Bosnian Maple back and sides! Bosnian Maple is recognized in the violin world as the finest for building high quality violins.
This mandolin is surprisingly loud and has a satisfying and deep, woody tone. Be sure to check out the attached demonstration video, courtesy of our good friend Doug Yeomans!
The Bourgeois M5A is a product of the collaboration between Bourgeois and Eastman Music. Eastman is known for high quality hand carved violin and arched top guitar soundboards, and this instrument is a testimony! Completely designed by Dana Bourgeois and built to his specs, it features a slightly wider neck and a radiused fretboard on a neck with a more pronounced V shape than many other mandolins - particularly Eastman's own highly acclaimed mandolins.
Other unique features:
Waverly Golden Era vintage style satin nickel tuners
Custom engraved Bill James satin Nickel tailpiece
Ebony fretboard and adjustable bridge
1-3/32" Bone nut
Loar style rectangular case
