This handsome LDB size, short scale guitar features a hand-voiced solid figured Koa top and solid figured Koa back and sides. It is part of the Downeast Launch Edition selection of instruments and has been dubbed the "Hawaiian Bourgeois Blues". We're not sure what Hawaiian blues sounds like, but we sure like the sound of this guitar!
Designed by Dana Bourgeois and built with tonewoods hand-selected by Dana and Master Luthier James Witkus, each Launch Edition guitar was closely supervised by Dana during the voicing process to ensure the highest standard of quality and tonal response. The result is a refined yet approachable boutique instrument that captures the spirit and accessibility of the Downeast Series.
This guitar has a very nicely balanced tone with complex, warm mids and sweet and clear highs. It has a larger-than-expected voice for its size. This is a trademark of the LDB design, the favorite of Dana Bourgeois for its comfort and playability as well.
