Avenir D-SSR "The Bear" J.P. Cormier Signature Sitka/Santos Rosewood

Built and voiced by Hozen in conjunction with Stonebridge Guitars International of Ontario, this J.P. Cormier signature guitar is one of only sixteen made!  It features an individually voiced Sitka Spruce top and Santos Rosewood back and sides.  Lovely Walnut appointments adorn the body and neck, including the bear claw inlay at the end of the fretboard.

Unique features of The Bear include an enlarged sound hole. Often referred to as the "Tony Rice" mod, it is a favorite among bluegrass players.  It reduces low-end "woof" while emphasizing mids and trebles.  It also helps to increase projection and provides a more immediate response.

This guitar has a very comfortable shallow "D" shaped mahogany neck, which is strengthened with carbon fiber rods for stability.
