We love Atkin's J-43, and this is a custom version with a baked Sitka top and Rosewood back and sides for a little more low-end punch and note definition than the traditional mahogany model. The bridge and fingerboard are ebony. White neck binding along with diamond shaped abalone inlays on the board and headstock give it a bit of a "tuxedo" flavor. Nut width 1-11/16"; scale length 24-7/8". Bone nut and saddle. A tiger fire pickguard is included in the TKL hard case.
The high gloss nitro lacquer finish is distressed by hand to give it that broken-in look and feel. The crackling on the top of this Custom has some straight lines following the grain of the Sitka, those are not cracks! We had our local luthier check it out to be sure, and the top is sound. Atkin guitars are built to look - and sound - like the 70-year-old Gibson that you found under your grandad's bed!
Be sure to check out the demonstration video in the photo array, courtesy of Buffalo's own Doug Yeomans!
